The government is making an extra €200 million available in 2023 to combat energy poverty by deploying fix brigades. These help vulnerable households reduce their energy consumption.

Rent control boosts affordable new builds
Pension investor PME welcomes the upcoming rent regulation of ‘middle rent’. So says chairman Eric Uijen in the Financieele Dagblad. After other investors complained bitterly about the planned approach against usurious rents. Uijen: ‘We want to counterbalance all that complaining.’
Minister De Jonge wants to regulate homes up to 187 points (about €1100). There will then be a maximum rent that is related to the quality of a home. This way, usurious prices should be prevented. Read full article in Dutch here…
Tenants often wrongly doubt energy label
The Woonbond has noticed that many tenants doubt whether the energy label of their home is correct. The Woonbond finds this worrying, because studies and the experience of the Woonbond itself show that the energy label of rental properties is usually correct. Over 2021, 93% of newly issued energy labels were found to be correct. Still, the union understands the doubt, because a tenant may experience the home very differently from what the energy label indicates. Read full article in Dutch here…
