Privacy statement

Privacy-sensitive data or personal data are processed via the RentSlam website, www.https://rentslam.com. RentSlam considers careful handling of personal data to be of great importance. Personal data are therefore carefully processed and secured by us.

In our processing we adhere to the requirements of the Personal Data Protection Act (Wbp). This means, among other things, that we:

  • clearly state  for  what purposes  we process personal data. We do this via this privacy statement;
  • attempt to limit our  collection of personal data  to only that personal data which is necessary for legitimate purposes;
  • first  ask you for your explicit consent  to process your personal data in cases where your consent is required;
  • take appropriate security measures  to protect your personal data and also require this from parties that process personal data on our behalf;
  • respect your right to  request access to, correction or deletion of your personal data.

RentSlam is responsible for the data processing. In this privacy statement we explain which personal data we collect and use and for what purpose. We recommend that you read this carefully.

Purposes of processing

We generally process your personal data for the following purposes:

  • creating an account;
  • setting your personal search preferences;
  • sending personalized emails;
  • analyzing statistics and optimizing services.

Use of personal data

By using our service, you leave certain data with us. This may be personal data. We only store and use the personal data that is provided directly by you or of which it is clear when provided that it is provided to us to process.  RentSlam will not use the personal data for other purposes , unless you have given permission for this in advance.

Account

To use our service you need an account. When creating an account we will ask you to provide us with some personal data. The data you enter when creating an account will be stored for as long as it is necessary to use the service.

When creating an account for the email service, we ask you for the following information (depending on the optional information you have provided):

  • first and last name
  • email address
  • phone number

The above data is used to communicate with you for the following purposes:

  • sending personalized emails tailored to your profile;
  • finding tenants for your home;
  • conducting conversations to improve the service;

We may, if you have given permission for this, contact you by e-mail for commercial purposes. An unsubscribe option is included in every communication via this route.

Security

We take security measures to limit abuse of and unauthorized access to personal data. In particular, we take the following measures:

  • logical access control, using passwords;
  • encryption of digital files containing personal data;
  • secured internal network;
  • purpose-based access restrictions.

RentSlam Quick Apply browser extension

The Chrome extension “RentSlam Quick Apply” fills the contact form of a listing on Pararius or Funda with details from your RentSlam profile. You review the form and press send yourself; the extension never sends anything on your behalf.

What data: your name, email address, phone number and message from your RentSlam profile. The extension receives them only from the RentSlam web app (app.rentslam.com) at the moment you start Quick Apply. It does not read your browsing activity, history or cookies, and can only access pararius.com, pararius.nl and funda.nl.

Storage in your browser: the details are held only in your browser’s memory, for the one tab running Quick Apply. They are deleted when you close the tab, after 30 minutes, or when you quit the browser. The extension itself does not send any data to RentSlam or to third parties.

Use by the listing site: when you send the form, the listing site (Pararius or Funda) receives your details. That site’s own privacy policy applies.

Outcome measurement: for each Quick Apply the RentSlam web app records only the listing site, the result (for example “form filled” or “login required”), the platform, the extension version and your user ID. No form content and no personal details from the form are recorded. Purpose: to check that Quick Apply works and to improve it. Legal basis: legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Retention: 60 days.

Legal basis for filling in the form: performance of the contract with you (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR): you start the action yourself.

Sale or reuse: we do not sell this data and do not use it for any other purpose.

Your rights: you can request access or deletion at support@rentslam.com (GDPR Articles 15 and 17). You can remove the extension at any time from chrome://extensions.

Changes to this privacy statement

We reserve the right to make changes to this statement. Changes will be published on this website and we will keep old versions available. It is recommended that you consult this statement regularly so that you are aware of these changes.

View and change your data

If you have an account for our email service or for finding tenants, you have the possibility to view your personal data after written request. If the data is incorrect, you can request us in writing (and also by email) to change the data or have it deleted.
